As you watch the MOBO Awards 2004 on BBC1 TV from 10.35pm tonight (Wednesday Oct. 6), remember the Urban Music Seminar and the MOBO Awards may have come and gone in September, but issues around black music in Britain continue for the rest of the year, and beyond...

Make way for the Black Music Congress' upcoming debate. Come and have your say. After the debate, you'd have an opportunity  to contribute towards the way forward.

Panellists: Darcus Beese, Universal-Island Records A&R for the likes of Sugababes; Danny Tammuz, The Players Posse Ltd MD, DJ and mentor; Ras Kwame (tbc), IXtra 100% Home Grown presenter; Chair: Kwaku, BMC founder.

Kwaku will be representing BMC by chairing the 'Amandla!' film show & discussion session, which kicks off B3 Media's 'Black Futures' film events in October. 'Amandla!' is a powerful and emotional film which explores the role music played in the lives and struggle of black South Africa. The composers such as Hugh Masekela and Ibrahim Abdullah, give us added dimensions to some of their works.

Amandla! Saturday Oct. 9, 4pm to 6pm. Basic event desciption: Amandla! tells the story of black South African freedom music and reveals the central role it played in the long battle against apartheid. The first film specifically to consider the music that sustained and galvanised black South Africans for more than 40 years, it focuses on the struggle’s spiritual dimension, as articulated and embodied in song. It is unlike any other film on the subject of apartheid and an electrically expressive portrait of South African life, then and now.

Extra event information: The screening will include a debate with Kwaku, founder of the Black Music Congress, who will explore the power of black music to bring about social change. The Black Music Congress hosts a regular series of courses and forums for debating issues around black music.

Event organised by: b3 media. Event website: www.tricycle.co.uk. Event costs £ 7.00

Tricycle Cinema, 269 Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7JR. www.b3media.net
