City University Black Music Business

City University's Cultural Industries Unit runs very useful and accessible evening and weekend courses covering cultural industries subjects. You can take individual modules or a combination which lead to the Certificate in Cultural Industries, a recognised pathway to the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Management at City University's Department of Arts Policy and Management and to Westminster University's MA in Music Business Management. One of the Unit's courses on offer is:

Business, Legal and Marketing strategies for Black Music, run by Kienda Hoji and Ade Adefolalu. This course is designed for those involved or interested in developing the business side of the black music industry. It will include a detailed examination of the legal, business and strategic issues involved in developing the black music industry in Britain and Europe. Some prior knowledge is required. Course fee £190.10 credits level 2 10 weekly classes class time 18.30–20.30. Code CE2313 from Monday 26 April (course has been postponed to October 2004).

In memory of the Black Music Industry Association/Black Music Vox, BBM and BTWSC, a pan-London voluntary organisation which provides music business courses and other programmes for youths and adults, is offering  two scholarship to the best students on its January-March 2004 adult  music business courses  to attend the Business, Legal and Marketing strategies for Black Music course in April 2004. The BTWSC music business courses provide well-grounded overviews which can also serve as a pathway to the Unit's Certificate.
